SketchNights!

The SketchNights are the Heart and Soul of the Lubbock SketchClub. It's where we started, and where we shine. Our first sketch night in October of 2006 had just 3 artists. Our largest so far has had 35 45 66 artists in attendance, but we usually average 20 - 30. Each week is a unique and inspirational experience and we're always trying something different.

Artists from all skill levels are invited and encouraged to draw with us. We have discovered that drawing as a group is the best and fastest way to help an artist to grow.

"Drawing on Inspiration!"

The SketchClub is not just a group of artists getting together to draw however. It is people connecting to people, and realizing that they are not alone. We all have fears, and insecurities. We all want to grow but are not quite sure how. Drawing alone as we often do, it makes you feel like no one else feels the same. But nothing can be further from the truth. The magic of the SketchClub is how quickly those fears and insecurities dissolve after watching other people learn what you want to learn, grow the way you want to grow - to have models and inspiration to draw from. And most importantly, discover what you never knew was possible.

It is the intention of the Lubbock SketchClub not only to educate and make better artists... but better people. This is the magic that you will feel sitting in on one of these sketchnights - People living up to their potential. We see ourselves creating a legacy. This is the first of what promises to be many, many generations of artists growing out of this community. That will one day become the best at what they do. What you will see in the sketchclub today are the beginnings of that much larger vision.

Regular sketchnight activities include workshops, comic jams, one-hour comics, trading sketches, draw-offs or theme nights. Also, whenever we can we bring in professional artists from around the world to speak to our group, do demonstrations and draw with us. Whatever the week, its always fun, so come join us!

The SketchClub meets every Saturday (except holidays) at Freebirds World Burrito 4930 S. Loop 289 in Lubbock 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. It is free to join!
